Grace was nee Richards. William Smith Mills was the teacher for the Newfoundland School Society in Brigus 1840s-1860s. An entry in the 1846 Journal of Assembly reported that the Newfoundland Society School in Brigus, conducted by Mr. and Mrs. MILLS is one of the largest and most efficient in the Colony. According to J.N. Leamon, in his book "Brigus Past Glory, Present Splendour", William S Mills operated the school in his home on Mills' Corner.
