INDIAN BURYING PLACE CEMETERIES,
GREEN BAY,
NOTRE DAME BAY

Collected July 1990 by Jill Marshall, with additions from Paul Coombs, also collected 1990

Indian Burying Place is located approximately halfway between Nippers Harbour to the south, and Shoe Cove to the north. John & Emma Adams are believed to have been the first family to settle there, sometime in the 1790s-early 1800s. It was abandoned in the 1960s, and no road was ever put through. It can be reached by boat, walking overland or by skidoo in the winter from Snooks Arm. In 1921 the population was 45; in 1935 39 persons resided there.
