Roman Catholic Cemetery (Holy Trinity)
Information from the gravesite markers in this cemetery has been transcribed by various groups on several different occasions dating back to 1990. Although there was an initial allottment of family plots in the older sections of the cemetery, eventually space restrictions required extensions, which resulted in later generations being laid to rest in diverse areas of the cemetery. In an effort to help visitors and researchers find various members of their families, the transcribed records for this cemetery have now been grouped into Sections. In addition, a large number of photos of the grave markers, taken by several volunteers of the Newfoundland's Grand Banks website from 2005 onward, are being linked to this webpage as time permits. Once a person of interest is located on this page, note the Section letter, along with the unique Marker assigned to the individual within the Section. Click on the link to the Cemetery Layout Diagram and select the link to the desired Section. This will give you access to a plot layout with the approimate location of grave markers within the selected Section. The lowercase letter included as part of some Markers signifies, known or implied, groupings of family members. Some of these groupings were, or still are, enclosed inside wooden or metal fences, wooden or stone ground enclosures, or marked with some other indicator denoting a past or current family plot boundary. |
Information shown in [red] provided by transcribers or district coordinator.

Wexford, Ireland, of which sixty yrs. were spent in this country. Erected by his son Andrew Keough". This information is based on a 1993 note at Ferryland Museum which stated that it had been taken in 1974 by one of Edward's descendants who lived in the USA. Initially the word "taken" led me to believe that the actual headstone had been removed from the cemetery, however after some investigation I realised the word "taken" referred to the fact that the inscription had been taken (i.e transcribed) in 1974. In the 1993 transcription project, the stone was noted as being greatly deteriorated and barely legible. No remnants of the stone were found in 2015. (KR)] | |

This information was collected by, or verified from, several different sources beginning as follows: pre 1990 - transcribed by Jane Dowd, typed by Tei Mac and forwarded to NGB by Roberta Sullivan; 1990 - transcribed by high-school students for the Newfoundland & Labrador Genealogical Society (lost in a fire in 1992); 1993 - transcribed and mapped by high-school students under the guidence of the Ferryland Museum; 2003 - markers photographed and indexed by StonePics; 2003 - 2007 - markers photographed by several NGB volunteers and others. Some of these photos were later posted to the site; 2015 - cemetery sectionalized and mapped. Remainder of photos taken in 2003-2007 posted. New transcriptions and photos posted by Kevin Reddigan. |
