There is an old Salvation Army Cemetery in the woods on Serpentine Road in Mt Moriah, Bay of Islands. It is located near Sopers Crossing on the right hand side of the road behind some houses. It is mostly overgrown, but three headstones still remain: | ||||

My great uncle, James HUNT, born 1913, told me the following today as
regards this cemetery. The WIGHT child was from somewhere on the Northern
Peninsula and did not belong to the Bay of Islands. Why she is buried
there, he did not know. There is also a Mary WELSHMAN, wife of George
WELSHMAN, buried there. She was first married to a CROCKER. Children
of Eric and Wallace BUTT are also buried there. Linda Elkins-Schmitt |
