John Kelly (1901 - 1924)

Although The Advocate tells us that John Kelly was from Ireland's Eye, NF, it is only partly correct. John was the eldest son of John (1875 - ) and Elizabeth (1876 - ) Kelly of Black Duck Cove, a small community on the island of Ireland's Eye, Trinity Bay, NF. At the time of the 1921 census, John was in residence with his parents and five brothers and sisters. He is recorded as being born in St. John's.

The Advocate also records that John had been associated with two previous shipwrecks. Work is progressing on learning more about these events.

(from the 1921 census records)
