There used to be lots of headstones standing, we were told by older residents of Burgeo but there wasn't one left when we did our dig there in August 2009! One of the locals who has a cabin there, the only standing structure left, showed us the area he was told the headstones once were. | |||||
We only found 1 headstone with writing that wasn't
totally unreadable. However, perhaps by posting this,
others will see it and may be able to shed additional light on
this! The headstone we could read, said DEBORAH WIFE ( it looked like the word WITH but must have been WIFE) OF WILLIAM ANDERSON JR April 23, 18.... it may have been 1804 but very hard to tell for sure! |
