I was poking through the Internet Archive and found the following "The first Five Hundred; being a historical sketch of the military operations of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment in Gallipoli and on the Western Front during the Great War..." It was published in 1921.

It has a lot of information. Pictures of as many men as they could find, who won what medals, maps of the major battlefields, camp life, etc.

It is available http://archive.org/details/firstfivehundred00cramuoft as either a downloadable pdf or suitable for online reading

Enjoy,

James

Hi there

You can also find this information posted on the site. Dan Breen has put together a very large collection of material on The Newfoundland Regiment covering both the First World War and the Second World War. You will find the "First 500" posted as part of the collection of material on the Regiment.

http://ngb.chebucto.org/NFREG/index_main.shtml

Use the link to the First World War Area information and you will find the "First 500" information on the displayed menu.

Don
