Hello, I am looking for information on the Baldwin surname, specifically those who lived in Victoria Village.

I am looking for particular information on the lineage of my Great Grandfather Joseph Baldwin, whom was born in 1884, passed, 1956. His father was also named Joseph, born 1843, passed 1913.

I have come to believe that Joseph Senior's father may of been one Henry Baldwin, who may of lived in Victoria Village or the surrounding Carbonear area. However I could be wrong on this account. I have no information on Henry besides other then he was listed as a fisherman.

I thank you for any information you can provide.

I thought the Baldwins were from Flat Rock, but the early Anglican church registers seem
to suggest they came from Harbour Grace:

Baptized 13 Dec 1776, Margaret, daughter of William and Mary Baldwine
Baptized 17 May 1784, Patrick, son of William and Mary Baldwin

Buried 21 April 1782, Mary Baldwine, aged 15 years
Buried 23 March 1783, [blank] Baldwine, to Willaim Baldwine
Buried 24 Dec 1795, James Baldwin, infant, illegitimate son of Mary Baldwin

Carbonear Methodist registers:
Baptized January 5 1831, Dinah BOLDON (? BALDWIN), daughter of Patrick and Dinah
Baptized January 26 1831, Edward BOLDON (?BALDWIN), son of Patrick and Dinah

Born November 30 1842, Elizabeth BALDEN, daughter of Patrick Balden and Elizabeth White
Born September 23 1845, Henry BALDEN, son of Patrick Balden and Elizabeth White

The 1839 Voter's List shows Patrick Baldwin lived at Blow Me Down.
The 1855 Voter's List show Patrick Balden lived at Blow Me Down. Also listed at
Blow Me Down was William Balding.

Thanks for this information, I always assumed Joseph Baldwin (1843-1913) was born in Victoria, not Flat Rock. I'll have to look into this.

Thanks.

I have in my data base a PATRICK BALDWIN, b/1836 Pouch Cove. He married 1866 MARGARET MARY THISTLE,b/1845. They left Newfoundland, and departed for Lake Forest, Illinois, and had 8 children. I believe that PATRICK had a brother WILLIAM, that also relocated to the Lake Forest, Illinois area.
