I am still looking for information on the Clarke's of Newfoundland. I'm asking about any Clarke's of Newfoundland. My Father-in-Law was Edward Clarke who was born somewhere in Newfoundland on the 15 of Dec. 1915.

ardvark3642, I think I found the listing of Edward with son Lindbergh that was mentioned by blazerltgirl. However if this is the Edward you were looking for, that would make his birth in 1905, as this is the 1935 Census for Gillisport, Twillingate. Still haven't found an Edward born in 1915.

There is also an Edward listed for the 1921 Census for Twillingate, born 1901..but no Edward for 1915. 23 EARLE George M Head Married 1862 Mar 59 SA T'gate EARLE Agnes F Wife Married 1874 Jan 49 SA Horse Is EARLE Edward M Son Single 1901 Mar 20 SA Horse Is EARLE Lizzie F Daughter Single 1903 Oct 18 SA Horse Is EARLE Allan M Son Single 1909 Aug 12 SA T'gate EARLE Stanley M Son Single 1914 Aug 7 SA T'gate EARLE Lilly F Daughter Single 1916 July 5 SA T'gate

Start with the 1921 Census in on this ngb.chebucto.org site and also the 1945 census. There were MANY Clarke's in Newfoundland. Edward is not one of my ancestors.

Hi,
My dad's family is from Newfoundland. My grandfather, Herbert Clarke, was born in 1916 in Lushes Bight. He was adopted by his uncle, Herbert Clarke Sr., and aunt Bertha Caravan. We are unsure as to who is birth parents are, but we believe they were Solomon Ball and Fanny Clarke (she died at the age of 34 in Stanhope from unknown causes). My dad, Mac Clarke and his 9 siblings were from Corner Brook.
