An antiquated term that pops up in the 1794-5 census and possibly the 1800 Carter census data. I think it means something along the lines of a kind of servant in a fishing room? Can anyone give a better definition? Thanks :?:

A servant, as you thought.

Dieter
A new kind of servant who remained in Newfoundland through the winter, working for little more than room and board.
