Hi,

I also posted to SURNAMES....

Looking for information about my grandfather, Thomas Roche - Married (RC) Mary A. Mulcahy of Bay Bulls. The family lived in NY but broke up pearly (early 1930's) and Mom and grandma moved back to Bay Bulls.

Looking for any info on my grandfather - have never even seen a picture. Don't know if he's stayed state-sside or moved back in NL.

Thanks,
Regina
p.s. coming to the Southern shore end August and will be in St. Johns, Flatrock if you have any resources I might be able to use.

Thomas Roche was the son of Richard Roche & Mary Ann Breen (born 1872 Indian Arm, Bonavista Bay).

Thomas had 6 siblings: John, Margaret, Michael, Richard, Mary Bridget & Francis.

Richard Roche was the son of Richard Roche Sr. & Margaret Maher.

Mary Ann Breen was the d/o John Breen (1824-1904) & Margaret Byrne (1830-1915), of St. John's.

I have your grandmother, Mary Anastasia Mulcahy (1903-1999) as dying in Warminster, Bucks, Pennsylvania. She was the d/o Patrick T. Mulcahy (1862-1953) & Mary Josephine Williams (1866-1938).

Thomas Roche is listed in the 1936 St. John's Directory as living at 64 Munroe Street with his father, Richard, who was retired at that time. His brother Michael, a blacksmith for Brennan's, lived at 58 Munroe Street. His brother Richard, a longshoreman, lived at 93 Lime Street.
Thomas' sister, Margaret (Madge) married Charles Dearin, a Customs House man. Another sister, Mary Bridget, never married and died in 1992, the last surviving member of her family.
