I'm hoping someone can help me here. I have a Janet E. Penney, born 1896, supposedly in Fogo. I am looking to find her parents, siblings, etc.
She married 3 Dec 1912 Cyril Ernest Chafe of Petty Harbour. They had no children.
I'm not sure if they married in Newfoundland or in Salem, MA, as Cyril was living there in 1912 & 1913, but no wife listed in the City Directory.
They lived 1921 Pleasant St, St. John's West; 1935 Hamilton Ave, St. John's West; 1945 311 Southside, St. John's West.
I do not know when Janet died or where she is buried.
Thanks!

Thank you so much! That helps me quite a bit. Cyril was working in Salem, MA in 1912 & 1913, along with his brother Wilfred, who also married in 1912. Since the wives are not listed in the Salem City Directories, it is possible that they stayed in Newfoundland while their husbands worked away.
According to the marriage certificate, Janet was older than she appeared on later census records. Broadens the search for her.
Appreciate the help!

Found her birth registration! http://ngb.chebucto.org/extlnk/lnkframe ... AQKQX-128N" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Thank you Cameha2! Cyril Ernest Chafe's wife is now known as Janet Julia Elizabeth Penney, born 22 June 1893 Seldom-Come-By, Fogo, NL, daughter of Joseph Penney & Jessie Ginn. Now, if only I can find where Cyril & Janet were buried.

I have looked in a number of different sites, the problem is they were in there 50's in 1945, the online death records only go to 1949 and most sites only have transcripts of cemetery markers, if they had no children there is more than likely no marker. The only thing there might be is a newspaper obituary, you could contact the Telegram archives and see what they would charge for a search.

Thanks. Since they lived in Southside, they are more than likely buried in that area. But you are right. No children likely means no marker. Stonepics doesn't have one recorded but I will check with the FHSNL listings, just in case.
Thanks again!
