Hello! My name is Scott Greenwood. This is my 2nd attempt at a post as I haven't seen the first one I thought I submitted an hour ago, so I'll try again, just in case.
I'm looking for ANY information in finding out about my grandfather George Maxwell Hitchcock (or Hiscock) b: March 8, 1893 in Newfoundland. He died in Toronto in 1971. Some of his stories are a bit mysterious, what little he told us.
He said his father died in a farming accident when he was a boy in Newfoundland. (name?), his mother (Harriett?) took him, his brother Chester(?) Ernest and sister Jen/Jenna to Calgary, Alberta where he enlisted in the army in WWI. He claimed he was 16 and lied about his age, the military spelled his name Hitchcock instead of Hiscock and he just left it so he could get his pension etc. I guess.
We also suspect he may have been married to a Beatrice? before he married my Grandmother in 1925.
If anyone has info, please pass it on as it seems to be ver sparse and difficult to come by. I'd like to know for my Mum as it's always been a family history mystery...hmmm...
Thanks Scott Greenwood
