Looking for information on Matthew and Elizabeth Callahan of Freshwater, Carbonear. Had the following children Mark 1824, twins Mahala & John 1828, Amelia 1829, Elizabeth Jane 1831, and Matthew 1834.

Hi Mike - I was just going to say a few people have been talking in the Angel family of Petty Harbour forum, and we had come across some links to the Callahan and O'Callahan families from Carbonear and noted some of the family later moved to Cornerbrook. I say Callahan and O'Callahan families as the records some of us have come across have used the name interchangeably. The family we were looking at started with Geffery (Jeffery) Callahan/O'Callahan (b. abt. Abt. 1822, Carbonear) and possibly married Margaret Angel on 01 Oct 1854 in St. john's. The couple were later located in Cornerbrook, and had at least 5 children, two of which were named Dwnysuim O'Callahan (male) and Catherine O'Callahan. Both these children were interchangeably referred to a "Callahan" and "O'Callahan" in their marriage records. Might be a link in there somewhere.
