I am endeavouring to glean further information regarding my ancestors on my maternal side. I am having particular difficulty with my mother's father as we believe he spent some time in a Banardo's home. His name was Joseph Arthur Seymour (b. 1887/8) and was born and lived/ died in West Bromwich in the UK. His father I know was called Arthur but the only Arthur Seymour living in West Bromwich and listed in the UK census of 1901 is given as having been born in Newfoundland in 1865. This potential ancestor matches with some of the sons and daughters I know he had but I cannot be certain and naturally do not want to spend unnecessary time undertaking research down the incorrect path.

Arthur Seymour was listed in the UK 1901 census as a miner. His wife was called Sarah (whether born in Canada/UK, I do not know) He had sons called Joseph Arthur, Sidney and George and daughters Alice and maybe Florence.

Can anyone help??

Mike Fenton
