Folks,
How do I go about getting the obituary or death certificate of my great grandfather, William Fahey, from Western Bay. He died in November 1916 according to the St. John's Daily News year end review. I am hoping that his death notice will give me more info on his ancestors (birth, parents, siblings etc). Also, I would love to know where he lived in Western Bay.

thanks in advance,
Jim Fahey

What day in November? I have some papers in the garage, so I can go take a look, to see if I have it.

Shellcd,

I am sorry, but I mixed up the date. William Fahey died Nov 6th, 1917. Probably died at home in Western Bay and now buried at the Western Bay Cemetery. If you can locate any info, that would be great,

take care,
Jim Fahey

I suspect that someone rounded William Fahey's age at the time of his death. There
are at least three possible candidates born during that era:

William Fahey, baptized 2 July 1836, son of James Fahey & Mary Fitzgerald

William Fahey, baptized 23 Sept. 1846, son of Michael Fahey & Ellen Lynch

William Fahey, baptized 25 March 1851, son of Edward Fahey & Martha Crummey

Bridget O'Reilly was baptized 8 June 1845, daughter of William O'Reilly and
Mary Fitzgerald.

Thanks guys. Tough to follow the data. I was going by the gravemarker in the Estern Bay RC cemetery. It shows a death in 1917 with an age of 76yrs. This would put a birth around 1841. The 3 baptism records from Edward give three baptism dates of 1836, 1846 and 1851. Could the gravemarker be off that much?

Also, any ideas on how I could find out if William had siblings? I would love to get a death certificate, or an obituary.

thanks again,
Jim

devongriffin1,

Which vital statistics did you get the data. I could only locate the vital statistics up until 1906. Did you look in another district?

thanks in advance,
Jim

I got the vital statistics from this website: https://www.familysearch.org/s/image/sh ... PRagg%253D

You just look for the person in the index, and when you find them you can write down the page number, then go back and click on the year(not the indexes this time) then type in the page number at the top when you get into the images. (sometimes the page numbers are off by 1 or 2)

Thanks
