Post subject:  John Peterson did you leave any clues?

Hi, I am looking for my Great Great Grandfather John PETERSON birth.

The only information I have is on the 1851 UK Census that John Peterson’s birthplace was given as St John NL British Subject age 73 and a birthdate of 1778. In 1841 UK Census John Peterson is 50 with a birth year of 1791, wife and childredn ages are ok so the age difference just for him is a bit odd, :? his occupation is listed as Parterer & White Warter which is really strange and I cannot find any information on that, his son James Peterson’s wedding certificate (1861) lists his father’s profession as Bricklayer, so I am thinking along the lines of plasterer?

I know there are so many possibilities but any help would be greatly appreciated on how to search this further. Cheers
