Hi looking for any information on Francis Anderson from Hull East York’s (where I am now).
He was washed off the SS Langleecrag in 1947 and I don’t know if he has a grave. I would like to find out if he has one as my mother (Francis's sister) would like to come and see it. My mother last saw Francis in 1947 when he left home.
Lat 49' 31 sec
Long 55' 27 sec
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanking you in anticipation

What remains of the wreckage of the SS Langleecrag is on Great Sacred Island, a small island just off Lanse Aux Meadows here in Newfoundland. My husband thinks that they found the two seaman who were washed overboard; one in Ship Cove and another further up the coast. Will try to find out more for you. We have the captain's mirror from of the SS Langleecrag. My husband's father recovered it from the wreckage. I can send you a picture of the captain's mirror that I have.

Joan

Email me and I will email pictures of the wreck and the mirror. I am still asking around to see if I can find out where Mr. Anderson is buried. I know that the other seaman washed ashore futher up the coast in Flowers Cove and his body is buried there. Still inquiring about Mr. Anderson. Joan
