I am looking for information on Edith Ann Pike. Her father was John Thomas and was born in Harbour Grace but I cannot find out who her mother was. Her name was Mary Ann, possibly Burton?? Thank you for any help.

Sorry, I don't have an answer but I do have a suggestion.

I was looking at her late birth registration affidavit on Family Search, and the record states she was born in Carbonear on Jan 14 1870. It is signed by her cousin Orestes Spencer, who states he is 7 years younger than her, and that they were raised together. He also states his brother Samuel Spencer was born the same year as Edith Ann.

I also noticed that Edith Ann Pike born Jan 14 1870 was baptized on Aug 14 1870, the exact same day/place as a Richard Spencer and wife Emma baptized a daughter Jessie. The record stated they were born born in Wild Bight, Labrador. Likely the family was based in Conception Bay but fished in Labrador?

Suggests that the family had close ties to the Spencers. Perhaps if you research these lines, you might find out is her mother is a Spencer, or whether it was a sibling of her father or mother that married into the Spencers.

Happy hunting!
