Hi I'm trying to locate information on my great grandparents, John Hayes and Mary Burk (or Burke). I'd also love to find out how my grandmother, Nora Hayes got to the US. I know she came to the Boston area (actually Lynn, Mass) in either 1889 or 1890 to work as a maid in the Guptil household, per my mom's info, Nora's family was friends with the Guptils. Nora was born either 1873 or '75. And I ran across a list of marriages in St Johns for a Mary Burk to John Hayes in 1859. It notes that they came from Dingle, Kerry in Ireland. So far that's all I have been able to find out and I'm not even sure this is the right John and Mary. So, I came here hoping to find someone that has a connection to a Hayes family or even a Guptil family. All info would be appreciated. Noreen |
