Richard Elliott (born in Christchurch in 1793). Came to NL when he was 2 yrs with father John Elliott and mother Elizabeth (nee Holloway). Richard married twice, we believe. His second marriage is to Elizabeth Randle. We see an account in the Slade ledgers under "Elliott & Randle".
The only marriage record we can find is back in Christchurch between a Richard Elliott & Elizabeth Randle in 1810. But from Elizabeth's headstone in Fogo, NL - her death date is 31 Jan 1868 and she is said to have been 67 years, I believe. Which puts her birth date in 1801 and her age at that 1810 marriage at 9 or 10 yrs old. Richard is 17 at the time.
What am I missing? Does anyone have any explanation for this? Perhaps her age is wrong on her headstone? I do not have a birth record for her. Even if I can find a birth record for her in Christchurch... (or in Fogo for that matter) how will I know its her...?

Have you seen the headstone itself? Could be a transcription error.
