seeking information on the early Ryan Pioneers of King Cove and Keels. I read in the History of King Cove that the Ryan Pioneers came from Trinity around 1780. That would be Michael David and Thomas. There was a Tom Ryan who married an Alyward I think maybe a Sullivan and built a fishing room , but that was after 1805 because Tom Ryan is not listed on the 1805 Fishing Room Census, but a Patrick Ryan is. In King Cove Patrick Ryan had built room 40 around 1776 on a premise that had been vacated for many years. He built beside Alyward. Does anyone have any information on this Patrick Ryan? He is buried in King Cove Cemetery, He died 1827, and his son Patrick Ryan of Keel but buried in King cove died in 1856. There wives are buried there as well. All information and leads are appreciated

Hello, when I saw your post I got very excited, this is a challenging name for me in my research.
i am not real familiar with the geography, as I have never visited but I have Patrick Ryan who had son Thomas, who had son John, who had son Thomas. I do know that John Ryan who married Mary Louisa Whelan was in Colliers. He was born in 1855 and died in 1933. His father Thomas was born in 185 and married Nancy Doyle. I dont have documented location of their residence. Thomas' father was Patrick Ryan. Family lore says Patrick was shanghi'd by the British Navy and when they stopped in NFLD, he ran and hid, so they could not find him.
My mother in law was from the second Thomas who was born 1882 and died in 1951. Her mother was Anastasia Hawko.
would love to share the little I have if anything fits your needs.
thanks,
Vicki McNamara
