Searching for info on William J Miley (sometimes Riley) 3/7/1907 - 6/24/1943, Coxwain on USCGC Menemsha (AG-39), a weather patrol ship that departed St John's on 6/19, relieved USCGC Manasquan at Weather Station 2 on 6/20. He died 6/24, but no mention of it in any records I can find. Another able seaman from that ship, Joseph W Manketta is listed as dying 2 days later, also unexplained. I thought perhaps they actually died in port rather than on ship, but the death records transcribed for St John's end 5/31/43 in a cruel twist of fate. Any help appreciated!
