We are still looking for folks that would like to participate in a project to transcribe Obits that are in image form.
I downloaded all of the images that I have from ObitsSearch.com, when it existed years ago. We started out with approx. 5,900 images that needed to be transcribed and we now have about 4,700 that still need to be completed.
I would like to put out a request for volunteers, to help with this project. I can disperse them incrementally to individuals to be transcribed and then proofread by another volunteer. I can then forward them to Ivy, to be posted to the Site.
Some of the obits don't have complete dates, so if folks could do a little research to get them, it would be helpful. Also, during the transcription process, if anyone has additional information to help fellow researchers make connections, they can be noted at the end of the particular obit.
Are there any takers?
