yes, you did read that right. well, actually my aunt has your bible. she found it in a set of books she bought in a yard sale almost 30 years ago. when she had relized what she had, she thought it was best to hang on it. she said she had always wanted to return to the family, but didnt know who to ask or where to look.
I just learned of this bible not more than two days ago. since then , ive been looking everywhere.
the original owners where a Robert Grieve of St. John's & Henrietta Poole of Cape Breton. They were married on June 11, 1961. yes folks, the bible is 149 years old and is in amazing shape.
I decided to post this here because i thought maybe someone would recognize the names. It does list their whole family as far as children go. Henrietta Elizabeth Poole died June 25, 1881.
Robert remarried a Helen Rankin Scott ( last name was barely legible), april 29, 1886 She died Jan 5, 1904.
Robert died April 22, 1898
the book also contains a hand written note form the Rev, William Edward Gelling in Main-a- dieu Cape Breton stating that he did prefrom the marriage rites. it also contains a watermarked paper with names of Hnerietta & roberts children from Donald McKinnon J.P.
Henrietta & robert children were:
Mary Elizabeth b. april 28th, 1862 ( married to a Cutfield) died Augl 17 1898
Ellen Hunter B. Nov 8th 1863 married a Lieut N.I. hudson R.N. on Feb 1891
Lilian Henrietta Sarah b. dec 25 1864
