I've been tracing my genealogy for the past few years and have noticed a number of Shanahan's settled in Newfoundland, particularly Harbour Grace. My ancestor, John Shanahan (born 1806 in Ashtown, Ireland) eventually settled in Cape Breton, but I'm wondering if he made a stop in Newfoundland. Perhaps some of his family (brothers) stayed in Newfoundland, if indeed they landed here. I've been able to find his baptism record in Ireland, but have never been able to find a ship registry or immigration record. Perhaps this is because he travelled through NF.
Its a longshot, but thought I'd drop you a line.
All the best,
Joe Shanahan
