Post subject:  Snow family of Bay Roberts area

My 3x great grandmother was Mary Snow (abt 1787-1828), likely daughter of Edward Snow and his wife Fanny (unknown maiden name). Mary Snow married George Knight (1777-1839) in 1805 in St. John's (an Edward Snow was a witness), and had 4 sons (that I know about). George Knight (Jr) (1806-1874), Edward Snow Knight (1813-1883) (my 2x ggf), Charles Snow Knight (1814-?), and Silas Partridge Knight (1821-1919).

Mary's presumed parents, Edward Snow and Fanny, baptized their three children on 28 Mar 1797 in the Parish of Carbonear. Mary, born 1787; John, born 1789; Fanny, (birth year not given, but presumed 1797). I would love to learn more about Edward Snow and his wife Fanny - were they born in Newfoundland or were they immigrants? What was Fanny's maiden name? What became of their other two children, John and Fanny?

The Snow family reputedly settled at Port de Grave circa 1648. It is claimed that William Snow of Atherington, Devon, moved to St. Aubin in Jersey, and from there to Newfoundland. His son John Snow was living at Kellys Island during the French raids of 1708-1709.

Edward and Fanny's son John William Snow was murdered on 31 August 1833. His wife Catherine was convicted as an accomplice in his death and was hung at St. John's on 21 July 1834.
