Hi, my name is Bridget and I'm searching for my Newfoundland ancestry. My grandfather born St John's 27 08 1915. Came to UK as an able seaman. His father (my great grandfather) was also called William Bartlett Cole was apparently a fisherman in St John's. Seeking any knowledge, facial and other connections. My mum is quite ill and thinks she is alone hence the search starting now. Many thanks. |

Hi Bridget, I did answer your question in detail on a different Cole thread so you can check that out, but will add this following info on siblings for your mom. Your grandfather had at least 4 siblings that I have traced — these were Violet 1896, Albert 1905, Sarah 1907 and Henry 1911. There were likely more. His father Bartlett Bannerman Cole had at least 5 siblings that I have traced — these are Emma S 1860, Duncan 1866-1866, Catherine 1867-1887, Mary 1871 and Delphine 1875-1879. His father Joseph had at least 6 siblings that I have traced - these are Emma 1829, Elizabeth Jane 1830-1863 (my 2x great-grandmother), Henry William 1834-1903, Selina 1836, Louisa 1838-1840 and another Louisa 1830. He also had a half-sister Amelia Maria 1847 born of his father’s second marriage. Hope this helps your mother! I also have a picture of Bartlett Bannerman Cole I picked up through Ancestry.com.
