Hi
I wonder if any leads might be forthcoming for Mary Quinton, b. 1827 Red Cliff Island, d/o James & Sarah. I would like to verify she is wife of Henry Hobbs of Keels (married 1844 at King's Cove). Art Penney states in his book, "Nestled Between the Hills," that Henry Hobbs and Mary (Quinton) settled at Cannimg's Cove 1870's-80's. They had a daughter, Leah, who is my great-great grandmother. I was sparked when I found an entry for "Mary Quintuon" on familysearch in Newfoundland Vital Stats: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:9398-2W3L-Y" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This entry is for her baptism, no birth date, so she could be a few years older.
Art Penney wrote that Henry Hobbs was born 1819. I am unable to verify this via any digitized record, so I assume he is referring to a headstone or another source. If this Mary is the Mary Quinton, wife of Henry Hobbs, she would have been about 17 at time of their marriage.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Steve
