There is a marriage record from the Roman Catholic Basilica in St. John's that states...on May 29, 1860 married Thomas Barr (England) and Bridget Brownrig. Witnesses James Cullen and Alice McDonnell. Here is the link to that document found on familysearch.org. Right hand page, entry #62

Also Thomas Barr was baptized as a 23 year old convert on his wedding day. Again the record refers to him as English. So given his age in this record he would have been born in England circa1837.
