Hello, My husband is descended from a Patrick Fardy (b.@ 1826). According to a notice placed in "The Boston Pilot" 27 January 1855, a James Fardy of parish Balrinamona, Co. Wexford, sailed to St. John's in April 1846. The notice also mentions James' cousin Patrick Fardy who sailed to St. John's a year before in 1845. Patrick then emigrated again and was last heard from in "Castleton", Mass. The notice asks for any info to be sent to James' and Patrick's brothers, Patrick and Laurence, in Troy, New York. I've been trying to establish firm connections between the Newfoundland, Massachusetts, New York and Wexford Fardys. Although I have a parish name of "Balrinamona", I've had no luck pinpointing their origins in County Wexford. I think "Balrinamona" is misspelled in the same way that Charlestown was spelled "Castleton". Has anyone here been able to either connect the Fardy dots or pinpoint their origins in Wexford? Thanks in advance! Stacey |

I am wondering if Balrinamona is actually Ballinamona as the spelling is similar. The Roman Catholic marriage records of St. John's list the place of birth for a few Fardy marriages: 28 November 1817 Martin Fardy of Rosegarland, Co Wexford to Mary French of Petty Harbour 2 May 1821 Martin Fardy of Rosegarden, Co. Wexford to Ellen Doyle 1 November 1853 Michael Fardy of Pt. Hook, Co. Wexford to Margaret Merner |

Been away from this site for several years, so apologize if the information below is dated. Ballinamona Townland, Co. Wexford Map here. https://www.townlands.ie/wexford/gorey/ ... llinamona/ There are no Fardys listed as tenant famers in Ballinamona in Griffith's 1847 Valuation. I am descended from the Fardys of Wellington Bridge, County Wexford, in the old barony of Rosegarland. |
