Sometimes whole families in Labrador were wiped from history because of the Spanish Flu and/or massacres.
I cannot seem to find much information on the Ponniuks so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

See - http://www.nunatukavut.ca/home/files/pg ... ukavut.pdf
Pages 142 through 165 for about 15 records of people with similar sounding names. This name may very well have been just shortened to the Anglicized form of 'Penny', in the early nineteenth century, as well.
Cheers
Greg
