I am searching for info. on John Le Cow, who I believe came from, or lived at one time, in Newfoundland. (He may also have been from Jersey, Channel Is.) I believe this because I have found a possible marriage (no record found so far) between a John Le Cow and a Jane ????? in Teignmouth, Devon, UK in about 1760. I understand there was a fishing trade between Teignmouth and NF at this time. John and Jane had one child, also named John, who was baptised in West Teignmouth July 7th 1763, and was buried in West Teignmouth 28th Nov. 1765. John Le Cow Snr. was also buried in West Teignmouth 3rd Sep. 1765.
His widow then married James MAREDON in West Teignmouth 27th Dec. 1770.
My interest was aroused when I found the following reference on the NGB website via Google.
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cannf ... cestry.htm
This makes reference to a Jane MARDON. There are a lot of similarities here!

Can anyone help with the Teignmouth connection? I have been unable to find Jane's surname. Is the John Le Cow in Teignmouth anything to do with Newfoundland?
