Hi Elaine, I have a few clues for you but no answers.
There is a 1925 record for a border crossing in Vermont on Family Search. It is unmistakably for your Bartholomew, he is travelling to Massachusetts to visit his brother-in-law James Dawson, and it names his wife Bella. On this record dated June 1925, it states that he is 49 years old and is a carpenter, born Brigus.
So Brigus is the clue here. The Roman Catholic records in Brigus burned in a fire in 1912, so all vital RC records for the period you are researching are lost. However, a quick look at the business directories for Brigus provides a clue.
The only Hussey for the period in Brigus was a Patrick Hussey -- how's that for a good old Irish RC name? He's a good candidate for your Bartholomew's father. Some interesting interpretations of his name:
1864 Hutchisons: Patrick Horsey
1871 Lovell: Patrick Haussey
1894 McAlpines: Ptk Heasey
By 1894 there is also an Albert in Brigus -- perhaps a sibling that has come of age? Or perhaps not, as this candidate is COE not RC. There is also a James Hussey as a witness at your Bartholomew's wedding to Bella -- perhaps a more likely sibling.
Hopefully there will be some records that might help you in newspapers, etc. The records for RC burials and other vital records after 1913 are available as follows, this is a good article on the NGB site:
