I am hoping someone can help me. Benjamin Stead (1822) and Elizabeth Romaine (1825) had 8 children. I have a Hezekiah (1863 - 1917) and Hezekial (1861). Hezekiah married Isabella Chaulk (daughter of Elias Chaulk (1837-1912) and Maria Ann Coles (1840-1926) 29 Oct 1899 in Bonavista, Newfoundland and possibly her sister Emily Chaulk (1865-1898) 10 Dec 1885 in Bonavista Newfoundland, though I have seen other references to Emily marrying Hezekial. Are Hezekiah and Hezekial the same person? A brother of Hezekiah, Benjamin, married another Chaulk sister Sarah Jane 21 Feb 1889 at Bird Island Cove. Any information pertaining to both families (Chaulk and Stead) to clear this up would be wonderful. Also Hezekiah Stead lived in New Westminster, British Columbia. I am not sure when he moved there, though that is the residence listed on his marriage registration to Isabella. I found this article http://www.nwheritage.org/nwhps/Homestour/stead.html It is about a home built by Hezekiah Stead in New Westminster circa 1901. Not sure if this helps but Doug Coles in his book on the geneology of Elliston families lists only Hezekiel b. 1861 and has him married to both Emily Chaulk (m1885) and Isabella Chaulk (1899). This isn't a direct branch of my family so I'm afraid I don't know anymore about Hezekial. Barbara Chaulk Gallant |
