Hello,
I'm looking for any information on Ellen Burke who was probably born in St. John's. She married Phillip Luscombe around 1843 in St. John's. She was born around 1820.
Thanks
Liz

The following person's age would make her not a candidate but it is a curious thing
that the 2 surnames are a match.

At least three of the Luscombe children were baptized in the Roman Catholic Church:

Elizabeth Lyscombe, child of Philip Lyscombe and Ellen Bourke, baptized 14 September 1858

John Thomas Liscomb, child of Philip Liscomb and Ellen Burk, baptized 23 December 1859
Godparents: Joseph Clarke and Margaret Power

Mary Liscum, aged 14 years, child of Philip Liscum and Ellen Burke, baptized 6 February 1866

Thank you both for the information. My thoughts are that the Ellen in the obituary in the Ledger is the same person, however her age is wrong. She would have been around 50 yr.'s old in 1871. It would be too much of a coincidence for it to be a different person named Ellen Burke married to a Phillip Luscombe. She married and baptised her children in the C of E in St. John's. A few of her children were re baptised in the Catholic Church. I'm wondering who her parents were.
