McCARTHY, Charles
Evening Telegram January 31, 1968 (Wednesday)
Passed peacefully away after a long illness, on December 21, Charles McCarthy, in his 81st[?] year. He leaves to mourn, besides his wife, Margaret, six sons, Bernard in Argentia, Leo [?], Wabush, Raymond, British Columbia, Gerald and Michael and three daughters, Marion[?] (Mrs. Tom Gear), Ellen (Mrs. A. Clarke), and Madelyn (Mrs. Augustus Tulk) all at Wabana, also [illegible] grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. After Requiem Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, burial took place at the R.C. Cemetery, Bell Island, on December 23rd. [Text faded and very difficult to read. - Tom]

McCARTHY, Frances (Fanny) (nee Reddy)
Evening Telegram August 11, 1997 (Monday)
Passed peacefully away at home Wednesday, August 6th, 1997 surrounded by family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer, age 87 years. Predeceased by husband Daniel, daughter Bridget, granddaughter-in-law Loretta; three sisters and two brothers. Leaving to cherish her memory, daughter Mary Dwyer (husband Jody), with whom she resided; son Daniel (wife Pamela), Toronto, Ont., six grandchildren: Jody (Cynthia), Mark (Katie), Chris (Renee) and Scott Dwyer, Diana (Calvin) Greenham and Daniel McCarthy Jr., Toronto; two great-grandchildren: Tommy and Calvin Greenham; sister Jenny Conway; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road from 2-4 and 7-10 p.m. Friday. Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Francis of Assissi Church, Outer Cove followed by interment at Outer Cove Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to St. Clare's Mercy Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

McCARTHY, Margaret
Daily News April 29, 1980 (Tuesday)

Passed away peacefully at Murphy's Nursing Home, St. Phillips on April 28, 1980, in her 91st year, Margaret McCarthy, formerly of Bell island, wife of the late Charles McCarthy. Leaving to mourn: three daughters, Madeline (Mrs. Gus Tulk), Marion (Mrs. Thomas Gear), and Nell (Mrs. Arthur Clarke); four sons, Leo, Michael, James, Raymond and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also numerous friends and relatives. Remains resting at Pendergast Funeral Home, Bell Island. Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Bell Island, Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment at the R.C. Cemetery, St. Michael's Parish, Bell Island.

thank you the charles mccarthy and margaret are my relatives and have found some of the obituaries from some of the family members.just try to find any living relatives now

Ok Madeline died in 2010 and there is a list of many surviving relatives that you could reach out to - maybe check for telephone numbers and adresses to write to some one. I have had some luck on face book. Good Luck


Life Story for Mary Tulk


TULK, Mary Magdelan “Madeline” (nee McCarthy) - Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home on Sunday, May 23, 2010, surrounded by her family. Mary Magdelan “Madeline” Tulk, formerly of Bell Island, aged 93 years. Predeceased by her husband: Augustus (1996); son: Blair (2003); father: Charles; mother: Margaret (nee Power) of Bell Island; six brothers and one sister. Leaving behind to celebrate her bountiful life are her six children: Brian (Annie) Tulk, Marilyn Tulk, Sheila (Gord) Power, Barry Tulk, Lorraine Tulk, Terri Tulk-Myers and her daughters: Nicole, Brittany and their father: Don Myers; Madeline’s only surviving sibling: Marion Gear of Bell Island, NL; eighteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Veronica McCarthy of Cambridge, ON, Jean Tulk of Ontario, Monica McCarthy of Placentia, Mary Woolridge of St. John’s and three brothers-in-law: Gerald, Bill and Stan Tulk of St. John’s, as well as numerous other relatives and friends including the staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for the past two years. At Madeline’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home Chapel, 146 Elizabeth Ave. on Wednesday, May 26th at 2:00 pm. Refreshments afterwards at St. Patrick’s ground floor lounge. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madeline’s memory to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home Foundation or to a Charity of One’s Choice.
