I'm found some information but I can't find out much about my grandfather Garland Powell who was born in Herrings neck on the 13 Feb 1916. Any information would be great Thank you

Hello,
You will find that the Powell family are from Merritt's Harbour, a community located close to Herring Neck. Robert Powell & Susan (nee Hatcher or Vatcher) are parents of Jennett, Bertha, Minnie and Edgar John -- possibly others. If you search this site you will find Robert and Susan, along with other Powells from Merritt's Harbour.
Also, Garland's immigration to US on August 31, 1927, can be found on Familysearch.org -- it looks like he went with his grandmother, Rebecca Rendall to Chelsea Mass.

Notes on Powell family:
From search of this site, you will find baptisms under Robert and Susan Powell, Merritt's Harbour, for the following children:
- Jennett
- Bertha
- Minnie
- Edgar John ( I believe that he is known as John in other records)
There may be other children for this couple. There is also another Powell family, William Powell & Mary Ann (nee Smith) in Merritt's Harbour around this time - Wm. may be brother of Robert??
In 1935 census for Ship Island ( a community near Herring Neck - may be re-named), you will find the following family:
John Powell, head
Irene Powell, wife
Robert Powell, son
Lillian Powell, dau.
Ethel Powell, dau - aka Laura Ethel in other record on this site
David Farthing, lodger
Ivy Hussey, domestic
On Familysearch.org you will find Garland Powell and his grand-parents, who are listed as Rebecca and Angus Rendall (this surname, as are many others, is spelled a number of different ways). This would appear to be the parents of Irene, wife of John and mother of Garland.
