I have done a fair bit of research over the years on the BUTT and PYNN families. I have some info confirmed and some not. I also have quite a few holes (missing info) in my family tree. I would like to hear from anyone who has information on either of these families so that we could share information. I descend from Alexander BUTT of Harbour Grace and Henrietta PYNN of Bell Island. I would really like to find out where their families immigrated from, was it England or was it Ireland? Thanks

I have her brother as Joseph Henry PYNN (1882-1922) and her father as Archibald PYNN (1858-1938) her grandgather as Joseph Victor PYNN (1839-1900), her GreatGrandfather as Captain Joseph PYNN (1807-?) - but I don't know for sure if they were from Bell Island. I do know her father is buried in Harbour Grace, NL. There is some confusion as to who her mother was, either Emma Parsons or Mary Ann Binkly, he was married to both although his gravestone says his wife's name was Mary Elizabeth Pynn. Some confusion there, definitely!
I only know my father told me she had family in Bell Island.
Would this be the same family you are thinking of?
