Looking for info on Michael Driscoll/Driscole, born around 1800, Married in 1822 to Ann Champion of Lower Island Cove. Michael had children baptised in Roman Catholic Church in Western Bay. He died abt 1839.
Would like to know where he came from , who his parents were etc. Any help appreciated.

Michael Driscoll married Ann Champion Sept 13, 1822 in Hr Grace RC Cath. Witness was Tim McCarthy and Ann Mackey. No reference to his age or where he was born but I suspect if you check Hr Grace RC church records baptisms you may find him.

If not in Hr Grace you might try the Basilica in St. John's. As well if he was born here in late 1700's he might have been baptized initially in the Anglican Church. The other possibility is that he came here directly from Ireland.... Church records are available at the Rooms and if you are not able to visit you can request a search and or hire a private researcher. The names of private researchers and the fees of the Rooms are available on the Rooms Website.

Thank you very much. I appreciate your reply. It seems that the surnames McCarthy and Mackey are living in the Carbonear area around that period of time. They were either relatives or close friends in order to witness the marriage, Champion is a Lower Island Cove name for that period and I'm thinking that Michael Driscoll may have been from the Carbonear area and married Ann Champion of Lower Island Cove thereby moving there. R C Church records are hard to come by but I'll keep on trying.

Thanks again.
