Hello, I am hoping you can help me find my family. As it turns out through a series of unfortunate events and my parents being abusive alcoholics, I was never introduced to any extended family at all. As an aside I am a non-drinker. (Go figure)

This will be my first and only attempt at communicating or contacting family on my fathers side and with luck somebody on these forums might know who I can get in touch with to re-establish my family connections.

My fathers name is Alphonsus Young from dear lake by the humber power station outside cornerbrooke nfld.

All I remember as a 6-7 yr old child is an Uncle Jim (I could be wrong about the name, he worked a train depot near the old US air base).

Other than those 2 pieces of information I have absolutely no information about my family at all and with repeated attempts was never given any either. So I am going it alone and hoping somebody here can put me on the right path to finding my extended family.

Thank you very much for any help in advance.

Thomas Young.

Hi Thomas
this is your family in the 1921 WEST BAY CENSUS (west coast)

Just guessing, but Reuben below is likely son of Andrew & Mary, and probably brother to
your Louis. These Young's were likely originally LeJeune's and the ancestor of Andrew below
(b Apr 1839 Mainland) probably came from Nova Scotia. You need to look at the Directorys
for the Port au Port area on the West coast. Most of the LeJeune have Mi'kmak lines of
descent. Go to the Nfld Gen Website for Bay St George area, and look thru the Roman Cath
records, which begin 1850. You will find plenty of LeJeunes there. Once you have your line
then you can look at the Nova Scotia Le Jeunes. There have been a few LeJeune family
tree posted, you can find them just by googling. One author is Lark Szick.
Happy hunting

Hi TJ

The surname YOUNG was changed from its original French form, LEJEUNE (which means "Young" in French) for many families on the West Coast. The LeJEUNE family came from Nova Scotia. Most of them have some Micmac blood.

The Nfld Gen Web site has Roman Catholic records for the Bay St George area that
have many LeJeune's and Young's in them.

http://nl.canadagenweb.org/wcbstg_bapt_sprc42.htm

The above is a link to the 1891 Births/Baptisms from those RC Records. You can cut & paste
it in your Google Search box and then hit "Search". If you want a link to the page on which you can see and click on ALL the available baptisms in these RC Bay St George Records this is it:
http://nl.canadagenweb.org/wcbstg_bapt_sprc1.htm

These records have an entry for a Lawrence Louis YOUNG born Apr 6 1891, son of Frederick Young and Catherine Delaney. The month of birth, Apr, does not match the month of birth
in the 1921 Census for your Louis Young, father of Alphonsus, but often the Census
may not be accurate for the date of birth or year of birth. I don't know if Lawrence Louis Young is your grandfather, I am just saying he is a candidate.

Jill
