Hi are there any Gillotts in Newfoundand? It sounds similar to Jilo, and has French beginnings.

Hi, my grandfather was named James Gillott of Exploits/Burnt Island. There is a small islet named Gillott Cove in northern Newfoundland. James m. Sarah Ann Moulton of Pouch Cove. I believe they moved to Portugal Cove. Before James was born his father, also James went down with a ship in Conception Bay. Sarah Ann then went on to marry Ezra Churchill who had a store in Portugal Cove also part interest in a fishing room. Ezra had 4 daughters from a previous marriage to an unknown Picco lady. So Ezra was my gra large family , 3 who died within months of each other, I forget the name of the illness, but they were 11, 13, and 15. Belinda May, Ezra Jr. and Frederick Lewis. My father was named after Fredrick and the grandfather James moved to Vancouver, B.C., were he was a successful builder.
