Post subject:  Doing research in Newfoundland

Hi folks, I am not familiar with how to do research in this part of my country and from what I see in the marriage records they don't record the parent's names, so how do you do any backwards research?

Also, have all of the microfilms at the Rooms been transcribed on this site? Or do you still need to go in personally or hire someone to do research for you? In particular I am interested in these:

PLACE: FLAT ROCK
PARISH: CARBONEAR
RELIGION: METHODIST
BAPTISMS: 1794-1848 VOL. 48 REEL NO. E
1848-1870 VOL. 49 REEL NO. E
1870-1891 VOL. 50 REEL NO. E
MARRIAGES: 1794-1891 VOL. 50A REEL NO. E
And more at https://www.therooms.ca/collections-res ... nity-index

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks and Happy Easter!

Hello Anderley,
You may find what you need on familysearch.org. Here is a link from that site . It will open the Carbonear Methodist Church births and marriages 1794 to 1891. These are microfilmed documents that were transcribed for the Newfoundland government.
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1793777" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Bay de Verde Methodist churches may also have birth and marriage records of Flat Rock.
Here is a link to that.

Hope this helps.
