The Latter Day Saints have posted some scanned images of NF parish and Vital Statistics records on their site. They are not indexed, so you have to search the scanned pages one by one. But if you can't get to the Archives at the Rooms, this gives you excellent on-line access to the information.

Go to this link and then scroll down to "Newfoundland" records.

Actually Susan the trick with the site I have found is to advance every 10 or 15 pages until you get to the Bay you want. For example below are some of the pages I have been researching for Bonavista Bay.
Newfoundland, Vital Records, 1840-1949
Births 1895-1897, Certificate Number 600041-660119
Images 198 -263 of 507 is Bonavista and Trinity Bay

Bonavista North Deaths 1938-1941 is at 264-283

Marriages 1898-1900, Volume 03 Bonavista Bay nothing
Marriages 1892-1897, Volume 02 Bonavista Bay 96-110
Marriages 1901-1903, Volume 04 Bonavista Bay 236 - 280
( These actually go to 1905)

Marriages 1905-1908, Volume 05 Bonavista Bay 214 - 257
Marriages 1909-1912, Volume 06 Bonavista Bay 239 - 283
Marriages 1913-1916, Volume 07 Bonavista Bay 218 - 261
Marriages 1916-1916, Volume 07 Bonavista Bay No records
Marriage 1917-1920, Volume 08 Bonavista Bay 221 - 265
Marriages 1920-1922, Volume 09 Bonavista Bay 143 - 167

...and sometimes the first scanned page of a book will tell you what page to go to for each region. Plus, many files have a corresponding INDEX file that lets you know what page and line to go to in the volume.
