I have been advised that some Newfoundland cemeteries are gated and locked, access requiring an official with a key, perhaps a church or municipal official. Has anyone had experience with this? I welcome any advice. Cemeteries I am interested in would be in Conception Bay South (esp. Foxtrap), Jamestown, Brooklyn, Greenspond, Valleyfield, Lumsden, Millertown.

I have been in most of these cemeteries plus several hundred other cemeteries photographing headstones and I have not seen any gated or restricted access cemeteries.
To my knowledge, StonePics did not come across any that were gated when he tried to photograph most of the cemeteries across the Island either.

Thanks, Don. The information came from others who had visited casually. It could be that the cemeteries were not locked but the gate just closed, or perhaps they had encountered an old entrance, with a new one entrance somewhere else for the automobile era.
