Hi everyone! My name is Rita. I am searching for genealogy records on my husband's grandmother. Her name is Frances Hollett. She was born in Woody Island in 1890, and married her husband (James Smith) sometime around the early 1900s. She was of Indian status and married a non-Indian. Can someone tell me what Band of Indians lived in Woody Island during this period of time. My husband recalls his granmother speaking very briefly of her culture, but when she did, she referred to them as the Mikmaq. We have also been informed that her parents may have lived in Conne River. I would appreciate any assistance that anyone could provide at this time. I have been researching her ancestry records via every possible record that I could access on-line. I am determined to keep pressing forward and remaining hopeful that I will gain a little more incite into this undertaking. Thank you.
