I just finished the book, August Gale, recounting the storm in 1935 in Marystown. I wondered if anyone else has read it? Never having been to NF and trying to understand what my ancestors went through, I thought it was a very good book, especially since my great-great grandfather was lost on a schooner.

Hi Amy,
In the book did it mention anything about a small community named Iona (Rams Island) apparently it was severly damaged after the August Gale of 1935. Thanks! -devongriffin1
