I was wondering if it was possible to get actual scanned images of the Newfoundland census records online. Something similar to what you can get with an Ancestry.ca subscription or the scanned images available at FamilySearch.org?

Thanks.

Unless I’m looking in the wrong place I haven’t found any Newfoundland census records on FamilySearch.org. There are a lot of birth, marriage and death records from church records but no government census records from before we joined the rest of Canada.

...brain fart...sorry :) I haven't seen them either but there are people on this forum that have done the transcribing, so I'll be following here as well to see the answer you get!

Hi all

The transcriptions found on the site were transcribed from the LDS (Mormon Church) microfilm reels. These can be obtained from Salt Lake City through any of their Family History Centers. They may also be found at the Rooms (Provincial Archives). The last reel I got, cost $5.50 (US) to bring in for a 30 day period. I believe that if you want to pay $16.50 (US) it can be kept at the local Family History Center indefinitely.
