I am trying to trace the parents of my 3xgrandfather John Fearn, who was born in 1792 in St John's Newfoundland. He was a British subject, according to UK Census returns, between the years 1841-1861. He was then living in Birchwood Derbyshire England, occupation Beer house keeper and farmer. His daughter Millicent Fearn was my 2x grandmother.

Looking for possible links for his father and mother in St John's have proved very difficult. There is however one possible link in this site, regrading a Private John Fearn, serving with the 4th Foot of the Kings Own Regiment who where stationed in St John's around 1784 to 1801 (?), could this be my John Fearn's father?
Is there anyone aware of this historical event who can help me find further information, or knows if Britsh subject births were registered in Canada at this time ?. If so where where they registed?.

John Fearn returned to England and married in Nottingham in 1815.
Any help would be most welcome.
Thankyou Jo
