I am doing online research for a friend whose ancestor comes from Newfoundland. Since I can't find everything I am looking for, my friend Dan Morey and myself will be going to Newfoundland around the 13th of september. Most of the events we are looking for happened around Carbonear in the late 1800's. We need to consult the Catholic registries for that time because the information we are looking for is supposed to be in these registries. One example is to know the parents of an ancestor who got married in Carbonear in 1872. Is there an historical society for that area where we could look at the registries? Could we go to the St-Patrick church in Carbonear? Is there a central registry where we could do some research? Thanks for any hints and suggestions.
